The periodic table of leadership We humans are constantly in search of structure and order because this helps us understand complex relationships better. The same logic applies when it comes to understanding the complex issue of leadership from a holistic perspective. It is therefore helpful to draw on existing structural systems from another discipline, such as the natural sciences. The chemical elements of the periodic table for example are wonderfully suitable for making analogies to leadership and getting a better orientation. Helga Pattart-Drexler, Head of Executive Education at the WU Executive Academy, took a closer look at the individual groups of leadership elements. Here, she explains why there are also 4 states of aggregation in the periodic table of leadership and what good leadership actually means.

Strategic foresight is a concept that enables executives to shape the future without being at the mercy of its vagaries. Confirmation bias and the desire to be right The phenomenon known in psychology as "confirmation error" means that we tend to see what confirms our presuppositions, views and opinions. “Confirmation bias is also frequently encountered in finance. For instance, when you hold on to stocks that bring bad returns because you are reluctant to admit that the decision to buy it was wrong,” says Prof. Manfred Frühwirth, Academic Director of the Professional MBA Finance. How you can escape the confirmation error is explained in the 10th part of our GEWINN/WU Executive Academy series "The biggest investor mistakes".
